This illustration, which combines both 3D and 2D illustration, was inspired by my own experiences with political division. My family and friends have completely different political views, making it difficult to feel like there’s a “right” side to be on. The funny (and ironic) thing is that over time, I noticed both sides behaving in ways that mirrored each other. They would argue the same way, make similar accusations, and act just as stubborn.
I wanted to channel that feeling into something bright, bold, and a little ridiculous to contrast the daunting political atmosphere. This piece plays on the idea of political propaganda and how it influences people on both sides of the political divide. Whether my friends see my illustration as a humorous critique of conservatives or my family resonates with it as a reflection of their frustrations of being surrounded by “nonsense” and “sheep,” the irony remains. I believe this illustration can resonate with either side of the political viewpoint.
